I saw this skit at the time and thought it was hilarious. But I never suspected that michael mcdonald would ever have seen it or taken notice of it. So now this is hilarious at two different levels.

I remember Josh back in the 80’s when he was the drummer for the Disneyland Tomorrowland Terrace band, “Polo.” I went t through Josh’s dad, Stan Freese, to audition our band in ‘87. Crazy to watch Josh’s career journey.

It's clear within the first 10 mins of this interview that Josh is a Foo Fighter. It just makes total sense. He's so respectful and in awe of what it all really means. What a solid dude.

That was truly an entertaining interview.. I can see why the foos chose Josh as their new drummer. I can also see why he has been a ‘hired gun’ for many years.. like Rob Zombie says- you not only have to be talented and cool looking but you also have to be a congenial type of person that everyone gets along with.

So I've been playing drums in cover bands for about eight years and I get by but... I'm an amateur who cannot even imagine myself being able to line up with a click track like a true studio professional. In fact, I once auditioned for one of those live Karaoke bands that demand absolute precision and failed miserably. So, if the time ever came where I was in a band that was cutting an album (it will never happen, of course) I would be perfectly happy letting someone like Josh play my parts on the record as long as I could maintain the live gig.

You’ve gotta get more dream guests for sure, but you’re doing a damn good job of that already and I think it’s more of a testament to your knowledge and passion about music. You respect it and the guys you bring on recognize that, they respect you and what you’re doing.. but you need to get Hetfield and Maynard for sure

Honestly, this song sounds just like a rehash of a LOT of the new wave music from the 80's, mainly "Take On Me," by A-Ha. The opening synth bass notes also remind me of the intro to "The Final Countdown" by Europe. Sorry, but there is really nothing original or spectacular about this song, other than "maybe" the overall nostalgic 80's sound. I don't hate the song, it's just not my sound (way over-produced sounding). I lived through the 80's and loved it, but the new wave sound was never my thing back then, and still isn't. This song being the number one streamed song of all time just goes to show why I don't use Spotify or any other music streaming services, except You Tube, occasionally. JMHO.

What does this mean, though? One person listening? I highly doubt Nirvana will continue to be relevant to pop culture as soon as Gen X is dead. Most Gen Z think Nirvana is a clothing brand. By 2100, the last Gen X will be either dead or too senile to remember anything. Rock is dying out already. The music industry is nothing like it was 30 years ago. I'm sure people thought music from wax cylinders from 1910 thought those would be good still in 2000, but I'd say they were wrong. So what is Rick trying to even say here? That these artists are as timeless as Beethoven? Maybe the Beatles, maybe maybe Queen. As much as I love the Police... 75 years from now, no one will care, except old people. Same with Nirvana, except I really don't even think today's teens even really pay attention to their music already. I guess no one knows, and I'm not saying Rick is for sure wrong- I just don't get the logic behind this claim, like, at all.
